Rivers Casino Wedding
Carlye & Matthew had a beautiful winter wedding at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. The theme was whimsical, fun, wintry, with some Kate Spade vibes. It was a typical Pittsburgh winter, so rain :/ That said, Carlye & Matt never stopped smiling! We even got creative with the locations.
We went to the covered North Shore T-Station and these two ROCKED it. We ended up with a super unique location and one-of-a-kind photos to remember their day. The rain did stop too, and we topped it off with some nice rooftop views of downtown. Also, check out that chandelier and Prantl’s SPRINKLE CAKE!
How They Met
Carlye and Matthew met in 2008 when Carlye visited her friend, Emilee, at Slippery Rock University, where Matthew also attended. Sadly, it was not “love at first sight.” But good things come to those who wait, right?!
They re-connected 6 years later at a friend’s wedding, where they were the best looking and the most fun couple in the bridal party! Matthew decided things were going too well to let their new friendship end when the wedding DJ stopped, so he invited Carlye to the Steelers game the next day. The Steelers won, and so did Carlye and Matthew for finding each other! (Note: Carlye has recently been informed that she was the backup invite after one of Matthew’s friends canceled… LOL.)
The Proposal
After over two and a half years of dinners, vacations, walks, museums, laughs, sporting events and movies, Matthew treated Carlye to a fun day at the Andy Warhol Museum and a fancy dinner on February 11, 2017 he wouldn’t let her get ice cream after because he was on a tight schedule to get home, propose, and meet up with their friends and family to celebrate!
What Do You Love Most About Each Other?
We are pretty close to being complete opposites while still having similar interests. Matthew is very detail focused and oftentimes stressed, it’s the accountant in him, while Carlye is more carefree and creative. Both of us are guilty of caring too much about other people and each other, that’s what Carlye loves most about Matthew. Matthew also loves how caring Carlye is and is a sucker for her smile and laugh!
Over the years they have learned a lot about each other and realized there will just be some things they will never agree on. For example, Matthew’s favorite treats are M&Ms, while Carlye could eat ice cream all day, every day. When it comes to hot dog toppings, Matthew will soak his in Coney Island Chili, while Carlye prefers mustard and onions. And if you gave them a chance to take a vacation, Carlye would choose to spend her time shopping in the NYC while we all know where we’d find Matthew… eating every Mickey ear treat imaginable in Disney World!
Their differences have kept things exciting and have lead to many fun times together, but they also have found that they agree on many important things. For example, they think the best view of Pittsburgh is from a kayak on the rivers. And if you ask either of them what they want to eat, 9 times out of 10 they’d request a burrito and margarita from MadMex. Don’t even try to convince either of them that there is a better entertainer in the world than Taylor Swift! They both agree that you can’t go wrong with the “prom pose” when in a photo booth. You will also never catch either of them buying a cupcake at Prantl’s bakery that has less than 2 inches of frosting on top. Finally, anyone with ears knows that Matthew is clearly the better singer of the two of them!
