In Review – Renaissance Hotel Pittsburgh

May 21, 2014

We are starting a new series, it’s call In Review. Simply, we want to showcase some of our favorite wedding vendors and venues in Pittsburgh. To start us off, I’m happy to introduce Christine Zimmick, the catering sales manager at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Hotel! Also, pro tip, this is seriously one of my favorite balconies to shoot from in all of Pittsburgh.

Please tell us a little about yourself.
My passion for food & wine introduced me to this business. I actually have a culinary degree and worked as a chef for many years. I am a self-proclaimed foodie and believe every meal is better with wine! I am a proud mother of two amazing children. My son is 10 and my (clone) daughter is 6 going on 16. They keep me grounded and drive me to do my best every day.

What is the Renaissance all about and how/why is it different/better?
The Renaissance Hotel is an extremely unique city space with a very fun vintage flair. Ceremonies can be held under our beautiful leaded glass & copper rotunda. Social cocktail hours surround our second floor balcony and overlook our grand marble staircase. Dinner and dancing is held on our Symphony Ballroom which overlooks PNC Park and showcases incredible bridge and river views. Our menus are indigenous and anything but pretentious. You will receive personal planning service and feel welcomed and supported by our team of event professionals.

What is one piece of advise you like to give couples?
My goal is to allow every couple to actually have some fun planning their wedding. My advice is to enjoy every moment and refuse to allow anything to distract from celebrating with your family and loved ones. I also believe that creating an event as unique as the couple is what makes the every wedding personal & memorable.

What inspires you and what keeps you passionate about weddings?
My couples inspire me every day, getting to know each couple personally is what allows me to honesty love what I do. I absolutely adore being a party of their “love story”.
