A Yearly Tradition with the B Family | Pittsburgh Family Photographer

One of my favorite parts of being a Pittsburgh family photographer is getting to walk alongside families as they grow year after year. The B family is one of those families, and this session was especially meaningful.

We’ve made it a tradition to photograph their family every year, and this time felt like a full-circle moment. With three kids already and another baby on the way, this session wasn’t just about photos—it was about documenting a season of life that’s fleeting, joyful, and full of anticipation.

This year’s session included a first birthday smash cake, maternity portraits, and candid moments of their kids just being kids. The smash cake portion was such a highlight—messy hands, curious smiles, and pure joy. Those moments go fast, and I love freezing them in a way that feels timeless and real.

We also spent time capturing maternity photos at home, which made the session feel even more personal. Their home is beautiful, filled with warmth and meaning, and it happens to have the most incredible sunsets. As the light poured in, we were able to create soft, natural images that truly reflect this growing family and the life they’ve built together.

As a Pittsburgh family photographer, my goal is always to make sessions relaxed and authentic—less posing, more connection. This session was exactly that. From quiet moments between parents to playful chaos with siblings, every image tells part of their story.

Working with families like the B family year after year is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Getting to document milestones like first birthdays, pregnancies, and the subtle changes that happen in between is a reminder of why family photography matters so much.
