Grace & Bryant | Carnegie Museum Wedding

Photographer Notes
Grace and Bryant have this energy together that’s impossible to fake. They are warm, easy, and genuinely excited about each other. From the quiet moments getting ready at the Oaklander to dancing in the Music Hall Foyer, they were present for all of it. The Carnegie Museum is one of Pittsburgh’s most extraordinary spaces to photograph, and Grace came in with a clear vision. Lighter and brighter in the Hall of Sculpture, moodier and more dramatic at the reception. That kind of intentionality makes for incredible images. These two were an absolute joy.

A Carnegie Museum Wedding in Pittsburgh
Grace and Bryant’s Carnegie Museum (Music Hall Foyer) Wedding was romantic, architectural, and completely intentional — in the best way. From the dramatic Hall of Sculpture ceremony to the moody, intimate reception in the Music Hall Foyer, every space at the Carnegie told a different chapter of their story.
The Carnegie Museum of Natural History is one of Pittsburgh’s most awe-inspiring wedding venues. The Hall of Sculpture — with its soaring arches, natural light, and marble grandeur — creates a ceremony backdrop unlike anything else in the city. Couples who choose this venue aren’t looking for ordinary. Grace and Bryant were absolutely that kind of couple.
What made this day stand out was how considered it all was. Grace had thought through the light, the mood, the details. She knew the Monet in the museum’s collection matched the envelope liners on their invitations. She wanted her Milla Nova gown’s intricate lace and beading to be photographed in a way that did it justice. That level of care — from the couple and the vendor team — produced images that are genuinely stunning.

Getting Ready at the Oaklander Hotel
Grace and her bridesmaids got ready in the Andrew Room on the 10th floor of the Oaklander Hotel in Shadyside — a gorgeous, light-filled space with great energy from the start. The squad showed up in matching Juicy Couture sweatsuits, and honestly it set the tone perfectly: this group was here to have fun. The guys kept it casual over at the Oaklander’s hotel bar, which is exactly right.
Bridal Portraits in the Founders Room
Before the ceremony, Grace had a private moment for bridal portraits in the Founders Room at the Carnegie — elegant, quiet, and exactly the right pace before a 6 o’clock ceremony. We also captured her first look with her dad here, one of the moments she had specifically asked for. It delivered.

A Ceremony in the Hall of Sculpture
The Carnegie’s Hall of Sculpture is the kind of space that stops people in their tracks — and that’s before the bride walks in. Grace and Bryant married at 6pm surrounded by their people, with the 3 Rivers String Quartet setting the tone. The ceremony was short (about 30 minutes), but every moment landed.
The ring moment deserves its own mention. Instead of a traditional ring bearer, Grace and Bryant secretly taped the rings under two random guest chairs — one on each side — and the officiant announced it mid-ceremony. Two unsuspecting guests suddenly became the heroes of the moment, scrambling to bring the rings forward. The reactions from the crowd were priceless. It was the kind of surprise that only works when the couple has that kind of energy, and these two absolutely do.

Cocktail Hour & Reception in the Music Hall Foyer
Cocktail hour ran from 6:30 to 7:30, then guests moved into the Music Hall Foyer — and the shift in atmosphere was exactly what Grace had envisioned. Lighter and brighter during the ceremony. Moody and warm at the reception.
One thing that set this reception apart: the Bachelor Boys Band was set up at the far end of the Foyer rather than the center, which completely changed the energy of the room. Most couples default to the traditional center setup — Grace and Bryant didn’t, and it worked. The dance floor felt more alive, more communal, like everyone was facing the same direction for a reason.
The florals from My Garden Floral were stunning, the late-night Auntie Anne’s pretzels arrived on a tall stick with a neon sign (yes, really — Grace’s mom was thrilled), and somewhere in the middle of all of it, the entire room sang “Seasons of Love” from Rent a cappella for the couple. Unprompted. Unrehearsed. Completely unforgettable. Then came “Pink Pony Club” — and the inflatable ponies that apparently were ready and waiting for exactly that moment. This was not a low-energy wedding.
First dance: “Everything” by Michael Bublé. Then chaos (the good kind).
